Ready. . .
October 27, 2008
My granddaughter, Abbi (front), ready to start her backstroke heat on Saturday. What I like about this photo is her study in concentration just before the starting buzzer. Also I like the repeating red and blue plus the diagonal line of the pool deck and swimmers.
Moreland Monster March
October 26, 2008
Our neighborhood
Halloween shindig happened this afternoon. The Monster March started at the grade school with a couple hundred costumed kids and adults walking the streets of Westmoreland/Sellwood. These three actual monsters fit the theme perfectly!
First Meet
October 25, 2008
Abbi at her first swim meet finishing her backstroke heat. She was excellent!
South Waterfront Neighborhood and Mt. Hood
October 22, 2008
An achingly beautiful day! Stunning skies, light winds, temps in mid 70s.
This shot taken from the Marquam Hill OHSU campus. Mt. Hood is in the background. Buildings, left to right: OHSU Wellness Center, Meriweather, Atwater Place, The John Ross, The Ardea. You can see the tram cables and the white tram tower in the lower left.
Lunch At Bertie Lou's
October 21, 2008
Had lunch here today with my neighbor after a fun day shopping for compost and "nutrient rich matter" for the garden boxes we built for our backyards. It's a fun, 50's type of place. 6-7 tables inside, 6 counter stools, and a couple of outside tables for when the weather's decent. Cute place! Yelpers give it
four stars.
Chicken Neighbors

These guys live a couple of blocks from us.
Saturday Night Lights
October 18, 2008
Tonight my grandson's team, the Skyhawks (in black), won their football game 34-8. This was one good shot I got during the third quarter. Zack scored five touchdowns and made four quarterback sacks.
After Football Practice
Ocotber 17, 2008
Stopped by to see the grandkids last night. Zack had just finished football practice and was waiting for dinner.
Cutest Witch
October 16, 2008
Abbi in her new witch costume made by my
mother-in-law.
The John Ross, Portland South Waterfront
October 14, 2008
Took this on the way home from the gym. The
John Ross is currently the tallest building in the growing South Waterfront neighborhood. The South Waterfront is currently the
largest green living community in the country. They use innovative energy saving and water conservation techniques to minimize the neighborhood’s impact on the environment.
What I like about the shot is the curving, eliptical lines and the changing reflection in the tower of glass. I added the solarization filter in Photoshop Elements to highlight the reflection and the light.
