My neighbor's house looks so inviting at dusk with the lights aglow. I think part of what I like about this photo is the horizontal tree branches above the house.

This is my first time trying an unsharp mask technique from a tutorial on DGrin. Not sure this is the subject for it, though I do notice a little more distinction on the roof line and in the trees by tweaking the amount of the mask.

February 5, 2009

Winter is a good time to walk past this neighborhood house with a camera! Usually, the trees and foliage blocks most of the view of this stunning Painted Lady. I added a Poser Edges filter to accentuate the lines of the house and the contrast between the colors.

January 27, 2009

Just now getting some PP done on photos I took with my new LX3 at New Years. A sunny day and a painted Indian statue in the shade made for eye popping colors. I think the plant is a perfect addition to the shot.

October 13, 2008

Took this in the parking lot after CPR training class. We'd had a moderately sunny day until about 5 p.m. when this front started moving through. It was kind of cool to be able to photograph the leading edge of the front on it's way across the Willamette Valley.

Sean spent the day at our house. Grandpa is his favorite person here. After dinner they settled down to empty the toy basket crash plastic bowling pins.

dailyeye > Waxing Gibbous Moon, Stockholm, Sweden, August 11, 2008
September 2, 2008

This was a fun moon shoot in Stockholm because I was able to watch the entire moon-rise/moon-set process over about three-and-a-half hours. The moon rose just before sunset, floated above the horizon for a while then went down very near where it came up. Very different from where I live.

Moonrise, 6:53 PM; moonset, 10:42 PM. The shot isn't perfect. A little slow for the available light and not having brought a tripod with me to Sweden. I braced my camera in the corner of my window frame so the moon isn't crisp as I would really like. Still, it was a fun, exciting evening!
dailyeye > Painter's View
A random reader of my older daily photo blog at eBlogger emailed asking to see more tulip farm photos from this past April. To that random reader: You made my day! So, I've been posting them to a new gallery here on Smugmug. What a great day this was! We had stormy, overcast skies so the flower colors were rich and gorgeous.

dailyeye > The John Ross, Portland South Waterfront
October 14, 2008

Took this on the way home from the gym. The John Ross is currently the tallest building in the growing South Waterfront neighborhood. The South Waterfront is currently the largest green living community in the country. They use innovative energy saving and water conservation techniques to minimize the neighborhood’s impact on the environment.

What I like about the shot is the curving, eliptical lines and the changing reflection in the tower of glass. I added the solarization filter in Photoshop Elements to highlight the reflection and the light.
